Anambra State Government Seals Shrine Linked to Oke Ite and Yahoo Plus in Okija

In a decisive move against illicit spiritual practices, the Anambra State Government has sealed a shrine in Umuofor village, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area. The shrine, allegedly operated by one Ekene Igboegbueze, was reportedly used for rituals promising supernatural wealth, including Oke Ite, Yahoo Plus, and Awele.

Leading the operation, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, stated that the action was taken following complaints from Okija residents and a viral online video where Igboegbueze openly admitted to engaging in these illegal practices. The operation was carried out by Operation Udo Ga-Achi, a state-backed security task force.

Emeakayi further disclosed that the government has also sealed all properties acquired by the suspect through the alleged fraudulent activities. Items recovered from the shrine will undergo forensic examination, and the findings will determine the next course of action.

Speaking on the issue, the Director of Operations at Agunechemba Security Outfit, Mr. Chinenye Ihenko, condemned the rising influence of fake native doctors and pastors, blaming them for fueling the get-rich-quick mentality among the youth. He urged young people to shun such deceitful practices and seek legitimate means of success.

This move aligns with Governor Soludo’s commitment to tackling crime and restoring moral order in Anambra State.
